Ryobi Weed Eater Fuel Problem?

I changed 3 fuel hoses, then the primber ball. Now, it still starts, then runs about 2 seconds then shuts off. Still some sort of fuel problem. Could a filter be hidden in the tank or something? The spark plug is clean (why it fires). I am sure if the GAP was off, it wouldn't rev up and run for 2 seconds. Any ideas? Thanks, Hunter in South Florida.

dont need a new fuel tank to reolace a fuel filter in tank cut fuel line end at a forty five degree angel stick thru hole in tank aand out thru filler hole in tanh install filter and pull fuel hose back toward carb cut line fasten to carb

I had the run problem and when dumping out the gas discovered that the two hoses and the filter inside the tank had disintegrated and fell apart in my hands. It appears I will need to buy a new tank as you cannot reach inside the tank to replace the filter or lines.

replace diaphram they get stiff with age and do not
pump effectively, may as well replace rest of inner
parts as they come with rebuild kit about $10.
careful to set needle valve lever to correct height
flush with edge of carb
pay close attention when taking apart
as everything must inrite place
diaphragm first then gasket then cover

I have run into exactly the same problem this week. (I get 3 seconds out of it though - lucky me !). It seems to me that the diaphram/pump assembly is not feeding fuel. I am still working on a solution. Will let you know once I have solved it. Still looking for replacement parts to try and solve the fuel-feed problem.
