how to repair drivers side window mechanism?

i have problems with the window mechanism on my 02 passat. for starters i cant even remove the trim.

the window mechanism is attached to a larg metal frame behind the inner door panel,the window cables can snap on this model,vw do cable repair kits,repairing window lifter can be tricky if you havnt done one of these before,i suggest take it to somebody who knows or has done one of these before.
