Mend Breville JK28 Light 10 Seconds

Breville JK28 Kettle Cutting Out?

If I turn my kettle on, the light stays on for about 10 seconds and then goes off. A short while later (a minute or less) it comes on for another 10 seconds or so and then goes off. This carries on for about an hour when the kettle boils and turns itself off.
Can this be fixed or is it terminal.

Cancel this.
Took the bottom off and one of the wires to the element was hanging on by one strand. As a result it had got very hot, cremating the wire casing.
Soldered it back on and now boils, BUT the switch broke when I took it apart.
New one from Argos less than £20.
Hardly worth the effort
