Repair kettle lid?

I have a Bosch twk7203GB kettle with a failing hinge. As far as I can see the steel (?) pin that secures the hinge has come out on one side and so the lid is wonky. I can reach the end of the pin – though that is very fiddly – but I cannot press it back into place.
Thoughts?
Can I dismantle the kettle? Is there a piece you can supply that would help?
It seems such a simple thing t have to throw away a kettle as a result of.
