Mend Immersion Turned

my immersion trips when the immersion is turned on?

I've just installed a new switch to my immersion but when i bell out the cable it shows live and earth to be making contact. Everything is wired perfect, could there be something wrong with the installation on the immersion.

There will be a certain degree of contact between live and earth which is one of the reasons it has to be hardwired. Try testing the resistance between them, you should get at least 1Megohm. If not there is something wrong.
