What has probably happened is the plastic cover over the driving gears has cracked allowing the housing bushes to move out taking the main gear with it. It is possible to repair it but by now I reckon you will have thrown it.

Got a similar problem with my Lervia Paper Shredder, which I got from Lidl in Spain, where I live. It's still under guarantee. Can I expect the same service?

IF YOUR SHREDDER (LERVIA KH4402) DOES NOT SHRED. BUT MAKES A CONTINUOUS RUNNING SOUND. THEN YOU HAVE OVERLOADED IT AND KNACKERED THE MOUNTINGS WHICH THE CROSS-CUTTERS ARE MOUNTED ON. THEREBY, THE MOTORS RUNS BUT THE CUTTERS ARE NOT TURNING.
SOLUTION: - DUMP IT AND BUY A NEW ONE.

I had a very similar problem, The lervia comes with a good guarantee I contacted Lidl and they sent me a proof of purchase letter which was forwaded onto DES Ltd their authorised engineers. They did not want the shredder back simple replaced the item. Note this can take up to 28 days but the item is replaced free of charge and comes with a 3 year gaurantee. DES Ltd contact no if you still have your reciept is 0870 7876177 if not contact Lidl direct.
