Mend Volkswagen T4 2.5 ACV Pump Timing Engine

how can i set the diesel pump timing for my VW T4 2.5 ACV engine?

My diesel pump belt broke and when I replace it with the marks in line it does not start. when I pour a little petrol in the inlet manifold it starts and dies off when the petrol is finished.

first why are you pouring petrol in a diesel engine? second vw have to be put on a computer to sey up the spil timeing so will have to go to vw im afraid
