Flashing black picture?

I have just tried to connect my LCD TV to my new computer via the VGA sockets,but when I select PC on my TV the screen just flashes. It worked perfectly well on my last PC. The new PC also has a DVI output and an S video output - the tv has VGA and HDMI. Any ideas please.
