'handbrake on'?

i have just changed the rear pads on my peugeot 807 after the handbrake on light and buzzer keep going off they were low, thinking this was the problem changed them but now the light gone out but comes back on after a little driving, is there a sensor there somewhere on the axle as the pads have no wear indicator on them
