The bulbs DO NOT power any fan on the Whitsbury (WHT20). The fan which blows the flame effect ribbons is mains powered. You should not fit low energy bulbs as the flame-effect will be impaired because it needs clear incandescent candle bulbs to obtain the correct effect.

Changing the lights is easy. Remove the coals. Take the screws out of the bottom front, lift off and remove the lamps. Fit low energy bulbs. These take a little time to warm up and power the fan but are very economical. My big trouble is that the plug fuse blows when I switch on the heater. There must be a dead short. Problem is there is no instruction to get to the heating section on the unit leaflet. It's like Fort Knox to get into.
Hi, If you look at the bars going across the front, under the second one down in each corner ia a screw. Undo them and pull the front away. You will see a rotary fan unit which blows air up across the strips of material. Try vacuuming the fan unit and gently the material strips. If that doesnt work you may need a fan replacement part - good luck with that if that is the problem!
