I have lexmark 3400 all in one?

I have lexmark 3400 All in One - Have added new cartridge and message says cover open. will not let me print test page etc can you help am about to throw printer out of window

the clip that detects the lid is closed has probaly snapped off.this happened to my 3480 and lexmark sent me a new printer
