diplomat 8234 dishwasher cold water?

dishwasher water not heating....tested element, showing resistance of 27 on meter....believe ok. Before giving up and getting wife marigolds, have ordered thermostat as relatively cheap...however original stat has 4 teminals...new one from uk whitegoods only has 3( although otherwise appears identical) The original hasa blue wire loopin across stat at one end, ie terminal 3 to 4, and terminals 1 and 2 have red feeds.......any help?????
