How can I connect to windows explorer?

I have a ibm thinkpad 380z with a Dlink wireless card, the card is working and says it is connected to my home wireless network, but when I try to connect to windows explorer I keep getting an error that the page cannot be displayed. It says there is no connection to the internet. I have verizon dsl, and a linksys router.
