Depends on model, make of belt: from vehicle manufacturer or aftermarket and type of use ie; "extreme use" means stop / start but low mileage; some vehicles extreme use no longer than 4 years. Max in time 7 years for avg' use (using manufacturers mileage guide)Ask the dealer; err on side of caution.

Cambelts are made of rubbber like a fan belt these days and after awhile need to be changed otherwise it could break and cause major damage to your engine
