Mend Hotpoint Dryer Need

does my hotpoint dryer need fixing?

i have removed the kidney shaped panel off the back and the element has broken (gold strip of metal) has snapped off at one end only and still nailed on at the other! the dryer seems to still work fine.does it need to be repaired or am i ok to still carry on using?
