whats wrong with my samsung camera ?

im Havin that same problem with my samsung L100
when i turn it on it makes a beep noise & the lens
pops out then shuts down or some times the lens
doesnt go back in! I have no idea how to get this
problem fix but can somebody please help me????

When I turn my camera on it stays for like 2 seconds and then shuts off and makes a beep. I don't know what to do!!!

The problem is within the camera lens area. Inside, there's teeth along the side, where the motor's gear runs against. The teeth along the side is not lubricated where the lens won't attract that much. Therefore, the system within the camera reads an error and it reacts to shut down.

The same here. The camera beeps for a second and the lens opens just a little, but then is goes back in and shuts off! Right now, I'm attempting to repair it. I've been also repairing things many times. I'll let you know if it's repairable or not.

OK. I fix stuff for a living. This may be a challenge. If you've got a Samsung S860 or something in that range, I don't think that there is an easy repair. I tried to take apart the camera by removing the screws but I'm affraid that parts will fly everywhere. I blew it out with compressed air and it didn't phase it much. I guess that's why I only paid $100.00 for it and the price fell to well below that before most stores discontinued that model. It's a throw away?

I tell you though, it has been the quickest point and shoot camera that I've purchased in that price range. And at 8.1 MP it sure shoots nice photos for a pocket camera. Ah!!! That's the problem, I carried it in my pocket too much, I think. It got too much dust into it. I'll keep it's replacement in a case from now on.

I have the same problem. Except my problem doesn't appear to be as bad. My Samsung just doesn't close all the way and it beeps to let me know it. I beleieve it is from getting dust into the mechanism.
