Mend Indesit Washing Machine Keeps

Washing machine programmer keeps turning!?

I have an Indesit W123S and the programmer keeps turning, I have done various things to remedy, switching the power of at mains putting the programmer to the end cycle etc etc as suggested on various websites. What i have noticed is that the machine starts to fill and then stops and then empties and then the programmer starts to rotate. I have disconnected the waste pump and check for a blockage there wasnt one. The machine will work in spin cycle and have now started in in the wash mode (the next symbol too the 8) I don't think it has anything to do with the pump, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Mr. gody,

I think you have tried so much to solve your problem with your washing machine. I'd like to mention some of tips for you to understand and fix your problem.

First of all, make sure to keep the drain pipe up to exact point that you can do cliping the pipe into the supplied clamps mounted on the machine. If you put the drain pipe on the floor level, the water comes into the machine and will flow out of the machine leaving the water line opening all the way.
If the drain pipe level is correct, check the water level reaches at least quater of the door glass level in the wash cycle and at least half in the rinse cycle.
If the water level is right, programer should stop water filling and start the foward and reverse running of the drum. If not there is a problem with the programmer.
while filling programer is alert mode for leaving the machine to take water in. If water doesn't stop and continue filling and filling, there is a problem with the pressurestat that gives power to the water vales to take water in or not to take water in. This is a round device fitted with a small rabber hose which comes from the tank.
If the machine is equipped with a voltage operated pressurestat which is soldered to the PCB, this complete board has to be replaced. But before that make sure, there is no blockage in this pipe.
I am an engineer on Kitchen and Laundry products, specially heavy duty equipments such as brands of Electrolux, Zanussi, Dubix, Pazzi, Nyborg.
Home appliances are very easy to diagnose than heavy duty machines which wash the dry cloth loads of up to 500kgs.

Check the pressure switch -the system that determines correct water level in the drum. If its giving an incorrect indication to the program timer machine will either overfill, refuse to fill or refuse to spin. Its an air operated diaphragm switch triggered by rising air pressure induced by the entry of water into an airtight vessel attached to the base of the drum. It tells the program timer that the water has reached the correct level, allowing it to proceed to the water heating stage in the cycle. Power off, drag machine out onto the floor, remove back cover and top cover. The pressure switch is a round item about 3 inches across with several wires and a thin rubber pipe attached. It generally sits just under the top cover. Disconnect the thin rubber pipe from the switch and blow down through it to clear any blockage. Switch itself may be faulty but its more likely the pressure pipe or the vessel attached to the other end of the pipe is blocked. Remove the pressure vessel, put a small nut or screw in it, fill it with water and shake vigorously till any crud or residue is removed. Some machines have the pressure vessel integrated as part of the filter unit, with a pressure chamber moulded into the top of the filter body. Refit all parts, check that joints and connections are water tight.
Also check the filter itself - generally located behind a panel at the foot of the machine. Some are obvious like little square hatches and some are hidden behind the trim panel at the foot of the machine. Once panel is removed the filter should be visible. Its generally a circular plastic fitting which unscrews in an anticlockwise direction. Some hotpoint, indesit and ariston filters are located in the big black sump hose (the one that leaves the bottom of the outer drum and connects to the pump). Power off, drag machine out onto the floor, remove back cover or tip machine up at an angle. Locate sump hose, remove the tensioner clip by squeezing the tabs together with a large pair of pliers or vise grips, remove the hose, take out filter and clean. Be prepared for spillage of water. May help if the machine is tilted backwards at an angle.
