Mend Fiesta Reg Ghia

Electrical issue P(97) reg fiesta ghia?

The electrics for the rear wiper, heater and internal remote release for the hatchback are faulty (intermittant). I suspect the 4 pin connector between hatchback itself and the body shell, but don't know which side of the connection is + or -. They either all work or all don't, depending what mood its in....Although the interior light for the boot space annoyingly seems to work every time.

Thanks guys, while I was waiting for an answer I had a play about. I ran a separate wire from one earth in the tailgate to one in the boot as a test and everything worked okay. Tomorrow the fun starts trying to hide it inside the bodywork. Wire coat hangers at the ready..........

Hi, the connector from the centre to the outside are 1&2 wiper, 3 HRW, 4 tailgate release and the bootlight switch, all the earthing is via the hinge points you can run a new earth lead of at least 2mm through the flexy tube that the screen washer fluid comes through and find a suitable place inside the car to make a good earth point

possibly an earth problem, they are earthed through hinges and create problems when rusty or worn. you will be better off running a seperate earth from tailgate through grommet to inner wing earth point ,bit tricky but a permanent cure.
