How can I deal with corrosive water in my heating system?

The radiators in my house were all changed about four years ago and a number of single radiators are starting to rust on one side. I called the manufacturer and he says there maybe corrosive water in the system.

Inhibitor solution is available for central heating systems - ask your plumber but...

If you can see the rust on the Outside of the radiator it is unlikely to be caused by corrosive water on the Inside of the radiator - else the rust would have eaten through and made holes - unlikely in 20 years let alone just 4.

Unless you bought the radiators direct from the manufacturer and the guarantee is still in force you have no claim. Any claim in law you may have is with the vendor.

External rust is prbably due to a poor paint job coupled with the natural environment of the room. Unless you actually have a leak the solution is to use a wire brush to remove the rust and to paint it.

If you can wait until the spring to do the restoration outside you will make a much better job of it.
