How do I overcome thermostat response delays in my underfloor heating?
I have a new house with hot water underfloor heating and 8 zones. Some zones have ceramic floor tiles and take 90 minutes or so to warm up, others have carpets (2.3 togs including underlay) and take about 3 hours to warm up and even longer to cool down. The house is highly insulated.
All zones have programmable wall thernostats but I cannot see how to set them up in a way that overcomes the inevitable delay between what the thermostats are calling for (more heat or no heat) and the slowly responding floor temperature.
If the room feels cold (and one adjusts the thermostat) then the system takes too long to reach a comfortable temperature and when it does become comfortable it then carries on getting hotter after the thermostat has stopped calling for heat because of the heat retained in the floor - with the room then becoming uncomfortably warm.
This must be a common problem with underfloor heating so I would welcome some guidance on how to set up the system for optimum performance.
Many thanks.
