Mend Bottom Side Opening

Zipper won't always go in?

I have a parka with a zipper where sometimes the bottom of the free side (without the pull) won't go into the pull thing, but after many tries, it does. I've looked, can't see anything obstructing the opening on the pull thing, so I can't figure out what's happening. Any advice please???
