the old element was not heating the oven to the right temperature everything had to be giving more time to cook when replaced with new element there was no heat came from the new one so i took it back thinking it was the new one i was giving another one to try it was the same so then i was told it could be the thermostat but why does the old one work and the new one does not [ does that answer you question ]

Question completely confusing. What do you mean about the new element not working the way it should do? What do you mean by the second element you were given was the same (As what?) but the old one worked much better? Which old one? You need to explain things much more clearly if you expect an answer to the problem.

dont understand this question as all elements are on or off, working or not working.if it gets hot it works!.if it doesn't get to correct temperatures in the oven then yes it could be a thermostat fault
