my washing machine won't take in water, checked inlet and outlet pipes ?

Have you checked the water supply to the machine? If that is good, have you checked the filter to ensure it is not blocked. If that is clear then either power isn't getting to the solenoid valve (the electric tap inside the machine) or it is getting power but has given up the ghost.
Is the machine working in other respects? power lights on? can you hear or see any signs of life?
If the door catch isn't engaging properly it won't allow anything else to happen (a safety measure) - so it could be the catch (interlock?) that's failed.
