On the Triumph there is a tool on the charger that fits the slot on the bottom of the brush to unscrew it. No pliers or vice needed.
You still have to deal with soldering though.

To save anyone time, it is not practical to replace the battery in an oral b triumph 9000... You can get the bottom quite easily, but the battery is sealed in behind internal components. You would need to be handy with a soldering iron at the very least.

Ba Mo,
I hope that you did not use a pair of pliers. The Triumph model toothbrush has a triangular indent in the base ... designed to be used by the triangular tool which is part of the charger unit (the portion that plugs into the wall). Please use that tool to open the toothbrush case and gain access to the rechargeable battery.

Many thanks for your post! It helps me buying this product now, cause NO-WAY I would send the toothbrush to a service center and PAY them to change the standard AAA batteries!
Could you please be kind and post a photo of this "small plastic pin" you are referring to?
Many thanks,
Bamo

there is a small plastic pin which prevents you from unscrewing the end. Put the brissel end in a small vise, then take a pare of pliers and just unscrew the bottom. Change the AAA battery then just screw the bottom back on by hand.
