hi yes its a relatively straight forward job if you have reasonable knowledge and a manual , but would suggest before you strip out , tippex the timing marks for the cambelt and if it has overheated then send the head away to be skimmed most skimmers will advise if it is warped or not and wont skim if it doesnt need it , but by time u have had the head skimmed and bought gaskets and new cam belt kit etc the price difference isnt alot between repair or a 2nd hand engine from the breakers yard , hope this helps
