Providing you have a new product it will have been pak tested to the requirements of the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installationl. So Wiring a switch should be no more difficult than wiring a plug. Follow Manufacturers guide lines (Instruction) Ensure wires are fully inserted into block connectors so that no copper wire protrudes thus reducing the risk of the electricity arching

a small piece of wire is normally connected which goes through a or, and, nor, nand or not gate. this is to tell the light to come on or go off if there is power to: or, and, not or, not and, and the not which is an invertor

Your new switch is a more modern version. The red lamp can be set as an indicator OR as a locator lamp which stays on permanently. Swap the two tiny wires which feed the red lamp around, and it will act as an indicator lamp.

if its illegal to touch electrics in a bathroom why do they sell all the parts required in every diy shop in the world?? shouldn't you need a licence to buy them!!!!
not likely

it is illegal for you to alter or touch any electrics in your bathroom. have you heard of part P of the building regs? Only qualified electricians are allowed to do work in bathrooms, kitchens and outside work.

You have wired it back to front.

The red light is (or should be) on the output side with the power coming in on the other side of the switch. With back to front wiring the red light is always seeing the power coming in but the switch is working fine.

Just swap over in and out...
