A bit confused by your description "a keyboard and mouse two go in a ps2 4 way port " I think you mean a usb 4 way port. firstly try plugging the mouse/keyboard - usb connector straight to the usb connector on the computer, if that doesnt work you may have to check your computer bios settings to see if it has usb enabled so that it can recognise the keyboard and mouse on boot up, if there are no options you may have to consider a new motherboard.
