BMW Z3 no sound on alarm?

I have just purchased a BMW Z3 51 plate only to find the alarm system has no sound. Lights all falsh but will not make any noise at all.

Sometimes the alarm doesn't sound until the window is smashed or the vehicle is towed away? It has some kind of delay on it!

You might find that the alarm siren has been switched off. There is a keyswitch under the bonnet that you can turn on and off with the small cylindrical key that should have been provided with the main set.
