What causes a Homelite 330 Chain Saw starter to lock up?
After running the saw for 10 - 15 minutes, the starter rope will not pull, it feels like the motor is locked up. I removed the housing and put a socket wrench on the the starter assembly and was able to turn the motor. When I reassembled, it started once and then tid the same thing again.
I don't think the starter to be the problem. I think it's rather the piston locking inside the cylinder, maybe because there's no 2T-oil added to the gasoline or because the quality of that oil is a bad one. If you take off the exhaust system you will see in what conditions piston & cylinder are.
