if the system is sealed why did peugeot put a cap on the reservour. surely there must be a reason why the cap can be opened. Is the system vacuum sealed or pressure sealed?

I have the same problem. I opened the cap and my gears are now hard to engage. I had found the unit lying upside down after taking the car for repairs. What can I do now???

You cant its a sealed unit hence the diagram on the top of the reservoir cap on the drivers side saying do not open only thing you can do is replace the fluid circuit
