Mend Polaroid pdv-0701a Portable Play Player

How do I unlock the region codes on my Polaroid pdv-0701a portable DVD play?

My Polaroid pdv-0701a portable DVD player is programed to play DVDs in region 1, I would like to be able to use DVDs from all regions, how can I unlock the DVD player so that it will recognize DVDs from any region?

Is there a way to do it if I dont have a remote control. I am in India and it would be difficult to procure a remote control for Polaroid over here.

first, you have to buy the remote control from polariod. It's $25ish.
Then turn the unit on
press set-up
scroll to preferences
press +10, 1379

this will reveal a region code box, scroll up to choose 0 (you can choose any region but i'd choose region free)

I put a region 2 PAL dvd in and it played just fine
