Burning smell from year old 307?

I bought a 1.6 S Petrol last week. Was on a hill stuck in traffic and there was this awful burning smell. The gage said 90 (is this too high)? Worried

Thanks. I did use the handbrake and kept gear in Neutral. Haven't had any probs since but haven't been stuck in that kind of traffic on hill though.

Gauge seems fine. Were you slipping the clutch instead of using your handbrake and putting it in neutral?
From your description it sounds as if you're burning out your clutch plate. Change your driving style if necessary.
