zanussi washer wont spin question 2?

I took your advice and had someone out to look at it, I explained what it was or rather wasn't doing and explained also that the panel where you select your programmes is now playing up..switching off and also the pause/reset button starts flashing and that I am not able to do anything at this point as it wont register at all now. The man tilted the washer back and looked underneath to check the brushes, they need to be replaced he said as they are worn down but then he said that i need a new panel to sort out the programme bit. Should he not have removed the top to see if problem lies with the pcb module or if it's the user interface board ?(which is what i meant to say earlier!!). Seeing as these are both very expensive parts to replace should he not have checked which it is or can you not replace one without the other? He told me that he will try to get the part and let me know if and when he can fix it then he left. Do I need to ring someone else or was he right in not looking inside ? please help as not sure now what to do!!!!!
