Mend Craftsman LT1000 Engine Fine

Craftsman LT 1000 19.5 hp - Blew the Engine?

The engine of my LT1000 was running fine till I heard a metalic noise in the engine and saw smoke. When I looked over I found a hole in the engine !
What will be the best exact or closest match to replace the engine. The old / broken one is a Briggs and Stratton Model 461707 Type 0145 E3 - 19.5 hp twin

Craftsman Craftsman LT1000 Garden Tools, Lawn Mowers Craftsman Engine Fine

The Kohler will not fit (easily). It will bolt on, but the pulleys may have the wrong key size, and the wiring will be wrong.

An alternative B&S will be OK (subject to correct crank options), but you will need to get the correct alternator option for the tractor in question.

I Want it; no hey listen the best match for your engine size is the b/s 18hp or the kohler 20hp. or you could order a short block from b/s and just put ypur parts on it. that way you will have the right engine for your machine. hope this is of help to you.

There is a direct replacement available, but at retail prices you will be better off buying a new tractor.

Best bet is ebay - either for a replacement engine, or an entire tractor for parts.
