When I try to start my Renault diesel Master van, the led light flashes and the engine will not turn over. I just put in a new battery thinking it was an old dead battery problem but it's still not starting every time.Out of every 5 or 6 times I try to start the van it only works about half of the time. Any help please???
had the key checked immobiliser working but will only start on bump start

hi my battery was flat on my 03 renault kangoo so toke it off and charged the battery now the van wont start it turns over but wont start the immoboliser seems to be working fine as i have a constant red light when i turn it on any suggestions thanks jay

My Renault Master 04 was reluctant to start the last few days yesterday it would not start at all. I called the AA out there were no codes shown on his computer the AA man sprayed easy start in the air intake and it stated. I have tried to start it today and it will even with easy start. Thank you for any help.

Hel please I have a 03 Renault Master 35 DCI that will not start the red light flashed on the first and second click and is not static until you try to crank the engine.Battery is good but nothing happens when you turn the key.I have tried holding the button down when turning the key but no joy----please help

Holding the keyin when trying to start worked for us too. We have a 2002 (02) which i am glad to say now works!

Hi just fitted a re con engine into my 2.2 dci checked every thing on computer fitted new crank sensor which came up as a falt code still will not start all timing checked deisel ok any ideas guys regards phil

hey i have a renault kangoo, and my key has had it, i turn the key the red light flashes, the imobilser or sumink, i got keep buggering round with it the the red light stays red, then van switches on, this is my 2nd key now and has happened twice, is there any way of fixing it??? chris

put the key in the ignition. the red LED on the dash should be flashing. when you turn the key to the first click that flashing light should become a constant red light. if this does not happen then turn the key back to the off position. now press the button down and hold it down while turning the key to the first click again.the red light should be constant now. then turn the engine over and it should start. it takes a bit of messing about to start with but you get the knack of it and its second nature. my master van has been like that for years. its the inside of the remote key that is f#=ked. because it starts normally with the spare which hasnt got a button.

aryt my master starts and runs for seconds, computer has been plugged into it and said it was egr valve, its now replaced and still it wont run

Get the immo bypassed by remotealarm in Durham...End of problem. Done on the day they have the unit and costs about 80 Gbp

am also experiencing the same problem with my master. breakdown guy suggested squeezing the key near the metal blade part, and also lock/unlock which resets the system? Seems to work, but its getting worse. £150 for a new key is a bit pricey!!

i have just recieved a new key from renault dealer £152
all in ,took 5 days from ordering key to the dealer syncing the electronics in the key to my van,key arrives at dealer in two parts ,the blip body and the metal key bit ,the dealer puts them together and enters the activation code,the keys dont arrive at the dealers activated and able to deactivate your imobiliser for security reasons,all said and done the van now starts everytime first time and no more flashing red light on the dash.

Yep,Paul is right the key is not activating the imobiliser
I have the same problem with one of mine (I'm useing the spare key!!!!!)
Let us know how you got on and where you got your key sorted.....Renault had a guy with a black mask and a pistol on the end of the phone when I asked for a spare!!!!!!!!!!

apparently its the key ,i just found a thread on another forum with people who have master vans and a replacement key fixes it ,deterioration of the imobiliser electronics in the key!
my van takes around twenty on/off turns of the key to start the van - got to wait till the red light stops flashing fast .hope this reaches the right person stranded in his van.
