Mend Icos He18 Boiler Never

Ideal icos HE18 boiler that never goes to Standby?

My HE18 seems to only have two modes -

'c' with a flashing burner light
or
'c' with a fully illuminated burner light

I am sure that it should go to standby mode when not in use.

Any solutions to this? I have the same he18 boiler, same scenario. Boiler never goes into standby.

I have nearly the same problem. My boiler does go into standby but the pump is on 24/7 even with the boiler off.
It is a new boiler with enough wires to do everything and is wired to an idiot proof Honeywell wiring centre.
Any ideas

Hi all,

Sorry I have been all over the shop and did not check here for your comments.

It has never done this from new, but I have had a plumber look at it and he is concerned that the boiler is not getting the right information back to put itself in to stanby.

As a result he thinks the 'Boilermate' is constantly on and the pumps are driving water around the system. He put it down to one of two things:

1. There were not enough wires available on the existing cabling for it to be installed correctly and communicate as it needs to
or
2. with the boilermate Storage System

There is another issue with the installation
Interestingly enough he pointed out the pumps attached to the 'Boilermate' are on 24x7 which points to problem 1 and it would be expensive to fix (running new cabling between the 'Boilermate' (upstairs) and the boiler itself (downstairs).

I hope this helps answer some of your questions. Paul

Paul, did you ever get an answer, because I've got exactly the same problem? Although I think mine may be slightly bigger as it's linked to a Megaflow mains pressure water heater that doesn't want to turn off either! Cheers.

No idea, it only came to light when I read the manual in full and noticed that it never displayed the standby mode.
