my briggs and stratton model#261172 suddenly wont start?

Sounds like you've bent back the throttle speed tang on the throttle govenor plate at the front of the engine underneath the air filter by maybe mowing under a low bush or a hedge. it will need to be bent back forwards to increase the throttle speed if that is indeed the case.
