Mend Epson GT15000 Scanner Error

How to fix an Epson GT15000 scanner?

I have purchased a used Epson GT15000 scanner. When I turn it on the red 'error' light and green 'ready' light both flash together which I believe means a 'fatal error'. The scanner was delivered without the transportation lock in place and was badly packed so I suspect something inside might have been disturbed or damaged. Does anyone have any possible solutions for me to check?
