W Reg Peugeot 106 Ignition Barrel and key how easy to change?
I recently had the key stuck in the ignition barrel of the above Peugeot and in order to remove it broke the steering lock.
When actually working it would sometimes just turn the engine over and not fire up. This would happen quite often and I was advised that it was a fault with the barrel or key sensor.
Is it straightforward to just change the key and barrel for a new one or is it more involved than that?
I had to grind off my ignition barrel as the key was stuck and it also had screw's that u couldn't get off. How do I put the replaced ignition barrel and wire's back? Would be great if u could help thanks Rene.

Hello Mate.
i have a 96 peugeot 106 and my key got stuck in the barrel. its quite east to remove the barrel and replace it only took like half hour. once you remove the plastic covers you will see the barrel and housing you will see a small grub screw on top of the housing. once you have removed the screw the barrel should just slide out permitting the wires are slack.

If the key is broke inside the barrel you have got a major job on you hands as you will need to drill the lock out and any new keys will have to be coded into the vehicle as for the cranking but not starting fault its usually the key
Code reciever behind the dash which has to be coded at a main dealers think it best you take to a garage for this job as the drilling has to be done with care you dont want to damage the steering
