I have a non starting problem with my 106 diesel which wont turn over on frosty mornings. Running a wire from the battery positive to the small terminal on the Starter motor solenoid turns the engine but the engine wont fire.
20 mins with a fan heater blowing hot air up behind the radiator on the battery side and the engine always fires first time even on the coldest of days.
my heater plugs work and the car always goes first time but it seems that if you try and turn over the engine without preheating nothing happens for a few seconds while the plugs warm up.
If I have drive somewhere and get back home on a very frosty evening the the car will start for the next couple of hours while there is still some heat in the engine etc.
So there is some form of temperature sensor on this engine which stops the starter motor turning the engine until the glow plugs are hot but if the engine turns then i would think its not the glow plug circuit.
my 106 is an N reg Escapade.
