cannot tune tv's in other rooms?

the living room has 2 aerial faceplates.
No.1 has two sockets, tv/radio
No.2 the same, feeding the signal to the other rooms aerial connections.
No.1 - main tv is plugged in and works fine with a tv splitter adapter. it also works with a direct connection to thi socket.
No.2 - this is taking a feed from the second connector on splitter in no.1, but I cannot tune the tv's in the other rooms.
The secondary tv's work if I plug them into connector no.1, but via the splitter connectior from no.2, nothing tunes and the tv tuning response is bad aerial connection.
Can the no.2 socket be faulty and need replacing?
