Mend Kenmore 4.5 Vacuum Suction Repair

I was using my kenmore 4.5 and I lost the suction. Motor still runs?

I was using my kenmore 4.5 and I lost the suction. The motor still runs but there is virtually no suction. I shook the hose out, changed the bag but still no suction. What can I check out next before I take it to a repair shop.

If it is a canister vacuum, most likely the plastic housing around the front wheel has cracked. If this has happened, all the suction is pulling through the crack instead of the hose. The only way to fix this is to replace the entire lower housing of the vacuum. It may make more sense to replace the vacuum. Miele makes a wonderful canister.
