handbrake warning light stays on all the time on ford focus?

light remains on even when brake is released. The brake fluid level is fine. it used to flicker but now stays on all the time

Probably just the switch which operates on the handbrake lever. They usually adjust with a nut and lock-nut on the threaded stem.
