Mend Battery Ignition Warning Light

INGITION WARNING LIGHT?

THE IGNITION WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AFTER A LONG RUN, VERY DULL, BUT STILL CAME ON. IT GLOWS WHEN THE CAR IS ON TICK OVER BUT NOT WHEN IT IS RUNNING. I HAVE CHECKED THE DRIVE BELT AND THATS OK. THE BATTERY IS CHARGED. ANY IDEA WHAT IT CAN BE?

Make, model and year of car would be helpful.
The light sounds like a charging warning light, check the voltage across the battery while vehicle is reved could be alternator or regulator rectifier.
