Sound like either the heating element or thermostat(s) have failed. Disconnect from mains supply remove the back panel and look around for something in the drum with wires leading to it. (There is a thermostat(s) wired to the heater to prevent overheating) You need an "Ohm meter" - borrow one !- to check continuity of the thermostat(s) and heater element . Most bets are on the heating element having "blown" - gone open circuit just like a light bulb gone "Phut" !If so remove the old one and replace it !( Same goes for thermostat(s) - mine have just "blown !!) Cannot be more specific as I am an electronics Engineer not in the domestic trade, although I seem to spend quite a time sorting-out my neighbours washing machines ,dryers , kettles .et al !
