key fob not working ford focus 2001 y reg ?

I have done on my car, but nothing happened and ...
i have ford focus 2001 second key

I have tried this but after i turn the ignition 4 times the alert will sound but the LED flashes as usual, won't stay on and pressing the buttons on remote does nothing (i have just changed the battery) Any ideas would be helpful!

I had not used my 2001 reg ford focus key fob for about 3 years because battery died and when i put a new one in it didnt work so i tried this today and it worked im well pleased.
Key fob Programming for ford focus

1. Turn Ignition On/Off (II/0) 4 times within 6 seconds until a sound is made.
2. Press any button on Remote until a sound is made.
3. To program other Remotes, repeat after 2 seconds after the sound.
4. Turn Ignition On/Off to exit the programming.
5. A total of 4 remotes can be programmed.

Reprogramme the key fob yourself in the following manner.
1. Insert your key into the Ignition
2. Switch from position O to position II four times quickly in Six seconds
3. Quickly remove the key (note your Red LED next to clock stays on for 20 seconds whilst in the learn mode).
4. Quickly press the locking or unlock button to programme the key during this 20 second period (note the LED should flash accordingly)
5. Reinsert the key into the ignition and turn on/off to exit the programme.

Your key should now be reprogrammed. Best of luck!
