Is it possible to fix this memory stick myself?

"D:\ is not accessible.
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."
This message appears when i try to access the memory stick. I have no idea what it means and am sure that I cannot fix this myself... but if there is a way, can i find it here?

Well for a start... yes d:\ was the drive i used, but i've tried it ain all ports and also tried other devices in there too... alls in working order.
The same message appears when i try using the memory stick in other computers.
And yes the device itself does show activity as it's LED blinks as normal.
As for an untrusted PC, i cannot say as to it being trusted, the only computers i have inserted it into are a friends, at a internet café, and in my own computer and laptop. All to me have been trusted and i have had no malware problems via them before, nor on the memory card itself.
And what do you mean by AV?

Thanks for replying to me.
Looking forward to your next post ^^

Hi BlackTonic...
We'd need more information before we can answer that question.
1: i assume d:\ *is* the path to the USB drive, and all other things being equal...does it happen in all USB ports or just 1 in particular.

What happens when other devices use that port?
What happens when the device in question is used elsewhere?

IF your device has LED's do they show any activity?

also...have you plugged your device into an untrusted PC recently? and what AV do you use?

Hope to help :D
