how do i turn on the closed captioning , on a sony t.v.model no. kv-32s45. I put menu on then put on cc1 and english but it will not appear on the t.v. screen Am i missing a step?

If you're trying to get subtitles from a DVD, use the DVD player's menu screens!

If you're trying to get subtitles from off-air UK analogue TV, select channel 1-5, press "Text", press "888". You'll have to revert to "Picture" mode by pressing the key with a rectangular symbol, in order to change TV channel after the programme.
