Mend Sony KP-41S4U Screen Rear Projection

Dark screen on my Sony rear projection. TV Model:kp-41s4u?

I have a Sony rear projection TV and for some reaso the screen has gone really dark. Adjusting the brightness and contrast makes very little difference.
Has anyone had the same or similar problem and know what it is?
The model number is Sony kp-41s4u

you can take the back of the tv off and just clean inside the back of the tv we were told to do this by a tv engineer and the picture after was unbelievable just be gentle with it and its really easy to do there are only a few screws, good luck

I think you may find the lamp is going in the t.v. Projectors (wall mounted) are very similar in the way that the lamp only has a certain lifespan hours. You can buy replacement lamps but they can range from £100 - £300 and so sometimes it's not worth the upgrade vs a new HD ready LCD.
