Mend Peugeot 406 Started

Information please?

I have a peugeot 406 estate and the 3rd gear suddenly started jumping out and also difficulty in selecting as if synchro has gone, all other gears normal, any ideas what problem is??

Sounds like either the synchro hub has worn or you have play in the gearchange mechanism get someone to wiggle the gear lever whilst you look for freeplay. There is also a ball joint on the gearchange mechanism which needs greasing. If no good then sounds like synchro hub - not a job for the diy enthusiast i'm afraid.
